West Yorkshire’s transport authority has been recognised for its excellent customer service skills.

A government inspector spent two days at Metro assessing its culture, accessibility and the timeliness and quality of its service.

Metro has now been given a Compliance Plus rating in the Cabinet Office’s Customer Service Excellence scheme.

Metro director general Kieran Preston said: “At Metro we have worked hard at ensuring we put the customer at the heart of everything we do and this assessment clearly shows that this approach is working.

“Our frontline teams and the many HQ employees who support them are committed to delivering a high standard of service for our customers and I would like to congratulate them on this assessment.

“However, we don’t get everything right and there is still room for improvement so I can ensure people across West Yorkshire that we will continue to look closely at how we can constantly improve our face-to-face, telephone and online customer services.”
