Airedale NHS Foundation Trust will be one of the first four hospitals to be visited as part of a new programme of Care Quality Commission inspections.

The Commission’s chief inspector of hospitals, Professor Sir Mike Richards, previously announced 18 NHS trusts in England would be visited between August and December to test the new inspection regime.

Andrew Catto, executive medical director for Airedale, said: “We’re pleased that the new inspection teams will include trained members of the public as they hopefully can see things from a different perspective and give us the feedback we need to improve our patients’ experience.

"The new inspections are likely to be more rigorous, with bigger teams spending longer on site looking at a whole range of services and getting views not only from staff, but also patients and their carers.”
