A Keighley mum who has lost several family members to heart problems is supporting a charity that funds research.

Andrea Shaw is tackling a sponsored parachute jump to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Her grandad Brian Scott, who lived at Staveley Road, Ingrow, was the latest loved one to be claimed by cardiac disease.

He died suddenly, aged 71, from a heart attack in January last year.

“One minute he was absolutely fine the next he was gone,” said Mrs Shaw, 25, of Glenhurst Avenue.

In 2007 her great uncle, William Hagan, died soon after having surgery for a heart aneurysm, and two years later his wife, Ruby, fell victim to a heart attack.

“Because of the history in the family and in memory of those who have died I wanted to do something,” said Mrs Shaw, who has two young sons.

She will make a tandem leap at a Lancaster airfield on October 6.
