Children are hoping to spread the word about the fun they had on a summer camp – by balloon.

Youngsters got a taste of big school at a literacy and media-focussed holiday club at Grange Technology College in Little Horton, Bradford. But as well as learning about high-tech methods of communication, they also tried their hands at something a little more traditional.

The children, who will all join the school as year seven pupils after the summer break, wrote about the kinds of activities they had taken part in throughout the week and attached the letters to helium-filled balloons before releasing them en masse.

The letters invite whoever finds each balloon to write to the school to tell them where it was found.

Teacher Ben Stead said: “They had a good bit of helium in them, and they seemed to be sailing off in the Ilkley direction, so we are hoping they go a good distance.”
