A traditional Yorkshire bitter from Ilkley Brewery has scooped gold in a top national food industry awards less than a year after it was first brewed.
The firm’s best-selling Joshua Jane clinched two gold stars at the Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste awards – Ilkley’s second gold success in the awards in two years.
It also won two gold stars in 2012 for its flagship Mary Jane ale as well as two for its Lotus IPA.
Of 9,700 products submitted, only a third win an award and by winning two gold stars, Ilkley Brewery was in the top six per cent.
Chris Ives, the brewery’s managing director, said: “These stars represent Joshua Jane’s first award success since the beer launched last year. Over the last ten months, Joshua Jane has become our best-selling Yorkshire bitter and has secured listings in Asda and Booths.”
