Airedale Hospital could struggle to meet a demanding target to further cut the number of infections recorded on its premises.
The latest meeting of the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust board was told that the hospital experienced no cases of the clostridium difficile bug (C Diff) during June.
Managers were informed that this means Airedale has so far only had three instances of C Diff for 2013/14.
In her written update for staff after the meeting, Airedale chief executive Bridget Fletcher said this figure of three C Diff cases compares to five cases at this time last year.
But she warned that despite Airedale’s success in preventing such illnesses it is still at risk of exceeding the threshold set by the Government of more than nine cases in 2013/14.
