Three engineering students have been given prizes in recognition of their success in a world-wide competition.

Bradford College Engineering students took fourth place in Manufacturing Team Challenge at the WorldSkills International Final competition.

The trio had battled for 18 months to compete in the final in Leipzig, Germany. They were referred to as some of the best young engineers in the world and presented with Medallions for Excellence by Susan Hinchcliffe (Lab, Windhill and Wrose) at the Carnaud Metalbox Engineering head offices in Shipley on Friday.

More than 200 Carnaud Metalbox Engineering employees attended the outdoor presentation to celebrate their colleagues’ successes, along with staff from Bradford College Engineering Department and training advisors from Appris.

Andrew Maguire, George Moffat and Daniel Gebhard (pictured above) competed over three days to design and build a solar powered can and bottle crushing disposal unit.
