Christopher Biggins will be in the audience of the Guiseley-based Carpetbaggers’ next show.
The larger-than-life celebrity, who is the patron of the theatre group, is to attend Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, performed by the junior section.
Among the cast members is Laurence Lorriman from Keighley who has been awarded a bursary by NODA and CarpetBaggers to attend a musical directors course at Warwick University. CarpetBaggers chairman Steven Clark said: “Laurence has shown potential over the past three years with his musical ability. We decided it was time to reward him with a scholarship with the view to him becoming a musical director for our group.”
Laurence who has appeared with Keighley Amateurs and Keighley Playhouse, is thrilled. “It’s going to be a great week, I’m going to learn so much. I want to thank CarpetBaggers for giving me this opportunity,” he says.
Laurence plays the Pharaoh in Joseph. CarpetBaggers Youth Theatre was founded by Steven Clark, who said: “I wanted a youth group who could do younger shows, as they can‘t always take part in the adult productions. Joseph was the perfect choice. This youth group is full of energy.” The show is at Guiseley Theatre from July 24 to 27. For tickets ring (01535) 670354.
