The centre of Shipley will be breached tomorrow as a crew of swashbuckling pirates descend on Market Square for this year's Pirate Day celebrations.
The Scurvy Shark ship will be docked from 11am to 4pm as masked characters entertain shoppers and children get the chance to meet Peter Pan and Tinker Bell as they battle with Captain Hook.
The free event is organised by Bradford Council's Shipley Town Centre management team and Q20 Theatre to entertain shoppers and boost creativity in schoolchildren.
The Scurvy Shark will sail around the square with its crew of buccaneers before Peter Pan shows at 11am and 2pm.
The audience can also take part in Pirate Pandemonium Shows - a knockabout comedy show full of fun, at noon and 3pm. Schoolchildren will join the theatre group in fancy dress for the Spectacular Pirate Parade at 1pm.
Town centre manager Yvonne Crossley said: "Judging by last year's event, this will be an exciting and fun day for youngsters, and equally entertaining for local shoppers and visitors to the town.”
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, executive member for culture said: "We are keen to support our town centres by running events like this, which bring in families for a free day out, but at the same time also support the local businesses with additional footfall. The Pirate Day will be a colourful event and will be great fun for children.”
