Airedale Hospital’s new maternity unit will be opened this afternoon.
The facility, which is part of Airedale’s labour ward, was created following a successful bid for £748,000 worth of Department of Health funding.
It includes four birthing suites, each with a private decking patio. There are also two pools for water births.
Cathy Warwick, chief executive of the Royal College of Midwives, will be joined by mum-to-be and Look North weather girl Lisa Gallagher, to open the unit.
