Eighties folk maestro Paul Metsers is to put in a rare appearance at Bradford’s Topic Club.
He was well-known on the UK folk circuit during the 1980s, releasing five critically acclaimed albums during that time.
His song Farewell to the Gold, was made famous by Nic Jones, who included it on his iconic album Penguin Eggs.
Born in the Netherlands, emigrated to New Zealand in 1952 at the age of seven and becoming involved in folk music there. He came to England in 1980 and retired to Cumbria in 1989.
Tony Charncok of the Topic Folk Club said: “Paul has recently made the odd appearance in folk clubs again, so we can consider ourselves very lucky to have him appear at the Topic.”
The gig at the Topic Folk Club at the Bradford Irish Club, Rebecca Street, Bradford on Thursday starts at 8.30 pm, tickets are £6.
