A local peace project sparked by the Bradford Riots and aimed at boosting community strength and leadership has held a four-day residential course in Ilkley.
A total of 24 young people aged 18 to 30, from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds, have just completed the latest session at the Intercultural Communication and Leadership School (ICLS) in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. They will gain qualifications which are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Other benefits from the programme include being able to apply for grants of up to £2,500 and joining in networking and mentoring.
Guest speakers included Bishop of Bradford, Rev Nick Baines, Imam Qari Muhammad Asim MBE, Makkah Masjid, Coun Ralph Berry, and Coun Dale Smith, a former Lord Mayor.
