Renovation work to improve Oxenhope Community Centre is expected to cost about £67,000.
Oxenhope parish councillor Tony Maw, who also chairs Oxenhope Community Association, which runs the centre, said he and his colleagues have applied for a £50,000 grant to help meet this cost.
He said they had applied to the WREN landfill community fund, but warned that it would be November before they learn whether their bid has been successful.
Addressing fellow parish councillors, he said the building’s roof and windows needed to be worked on, then the flooring and replastering the ceiling.
Parish council chairman Coun Neal Cameron asked whether funding might be available from energy companies, which are required to make community contributions in return for installing new wind turbines.
