Police have been alerted to a possible bogus caller visiting addresses in the Wibsey area.
The caller is purporting to be from BT Exchange and is asking if he could collect a letter or questionnaire that had been sent out to give free broadband to customers.
BT have confirmed that there is no such deal available and their fraud team are looking into it.
Police are advising people to seek identification from any cold caller at their door.
