A 42-year-old man drove at excessive speed while almost twice over the drink-drive limit, a court heard yesterday.
Michael Brown drove at speeds between 50 and 60mph in a 30mph limit, and turned into oncoming traffic, causing other vehicles to slow down to avoid a collision, Bradford Crown Court was told.
Brown went on the wrong side of the carriageway at the junction of Manchester Road and Mayo Avenue during the incident, which happened in the early hours of the morning.
Brown, of Springstone Avenue, Ossett, Wakefield, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, and driving over the prescribed limit and without a licence.
He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months, with 200 hours unpaid community work, and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
