Remploy workers who lost their job when Bradford’s factory closed should have been monitored to ensure they found work – as they were a shining example of people with a strong work ethic, Shipley MP Philip Davies has told the Government.

Philip Davies slammed the Labour Government for not tracking the workers in the same way any employee of a closed Remploy factory now is.

He said: “I have always been and remain opposed to the closure of the Remploy factories. When the last Labour Government closed the Remploy factory in Bradford, they gave next to no support to the workers there and did not even monitor whether they found a job.

“It was totally unacceptable and what is most important is that we do everything to find these people, who want and deserve to work, a job.”

He made the comments in Parliament as the Government announced nine more Remploy factories were set to close.
