Six people have been presented with awards for helping to raise awareness of learning disabilities.
The charity Peacemaker International, which aims to highlight learning disabilities among black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, held the ceremony at West Bowling Cricket Club to recognise outstanding community work.
George Deane, above left, was recognised for promoting equality through his work mentoring young people and linking different communities.
Ignatius Bukumunhe – centre – described as a key figure in the African and Caribbean community, was presented with the community involvement award.
Sandra Brown, right, was praised for devotion to her community.
Anne Dye-Sharp was given the “embracing character” award and Moretiola Fagborun was rewarded for creativity and innovation.
Wheelchair table-tennis player Abisoye Jemiyo was given an award for excellence in sports. He is a familiar face at the organisation’s events and is hoping to represent Great Britain at the Paralympic games in Rio in 2016.
