The Birth Centre at Bradford Royal Infirmary has welcomed the delivery of its 1,000th baby.
Samantha Jones, 26, from Girlington, gave birth to her son, Bentley Gareth Barnes, at 3.18am yesterday. He weighed 8lb 13oz.
Julie Walker, head of midwifery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, said: “We were over the moon when the birth centre opened last November as it offers women increased choice about where to have their baby.
!Now, with the delivery of our 1,000th baby, we have another chance to continue the celebrations as it is another milestone.”
The £1.2 million centre took in its first mothers-to-be in November and was officially opened by Bradford-born presenter, Anita Rani, in January.
It is well-equipped, thanks to donations from the hospitals’ Charitable Trust and the Friends of the BRI.
