A 47-year-old woman had her phone snatched from her hand at Saltaire railway station.

British Transport Police are appealing for information after the woman had her iPhone 3G at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, June 25.

PC Jo Geldard, the investigating officer, said: “The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was looking at her phone on the Bradford-bound platform, which was empty, around 7.50pm.

“Suddenly a man approached and snatched her phone from her hand before running behind the waiting shelter and jumping over the gates.

“The victim gave chase but lost sight of him. He was last seen running off towards the monument at the back of the station.”

Officers say they are following several lines of enquiry and have issued a description of the man. He is described as tall, white, and in his twenties, with dark brown short hair. At the time he was wearing a light blue hooded top.

PC Geldard added: “The victim was understandably left shocked by what happened.

“I would encourage anyone who saw the man in the local area at the time, or anything suspicious to please get in touch. If you have been approached in the area recently by someone offering to sell you an iPhone 3G in suspicious circumstances, I’d also like to hear from you.”
