A Guiseley band is competing to appear at this year’s Leeds Fest and at Reading.

The Concetines are teenagers Danny Holt, Matt Tate, Claydon Peaker and Jamie Walsh. The boys, all aged 16 and 17, are set to play at the Cockpit, Leeds, on Thursday, July 18, in the Futuresound competition. The winners will play on the festival’s republic stage and the five runners-up will perform on the BBC introducing stage.

Sixty bands will compete for the places over the next few weeks.

The boys have been playing together since their early days at Guiseley School, but really started to focus when they found their drummer, Claydon, who goes to Ilkley Grammar about a year and a half ago.

Danny said: “It would be great to play at Leeds and Reading Festival among all the big artists such as Green Day, Eminem and Biffy.”
