The “menace” of prostitution on an area of Bradford was passionately addressed last night at a full council meeting at Bradford City Hall.
Majid Khan Malik, speaking on behalf of Manningham residents who live on or near the problem road of Lumb Lane, presented a petition of more than 1,500 signatures at a meeting of Bradford Council.
Mr Malik talked of the need “to eradicate this menace on our streets” and spoke of “condoms and needles” being found near where children play. He said: “This is blighting our lives and our community.”
Manningham Labour Councillor Shabir Hussain (pictured), who lives in Manningham, said: “It is absolutely fantastic what you have done with the petition. It shows how you feel and how the businesses and residents feel.”
Councillors voted that the matter be discussed by the Bradford West Area Committee to discuss the next step.
