Bradford is leading the country in helping people living with dementia, a Government minister has said.

Norman Lamb heaped praise on the Bradford District Dementia Action Alliance, telling MPs the city’s “impressive work” was now being adopted by ministers.

The care minister said David Cameron had launched a ‘Dementia Challenge’ to improve care across England and create “dementia-friendly communities”.

And, speaking in a Commons debate, he added: “That is exactly what is happening in Bradford.”

But Mr Lamb refused to give ground on his controversial decision on a new “national minimum” level, at which people will qualify for care such as help with washing and dressing.
