Leg warmers and even a Rubik’s Cube were all proudly worn at an 1980s-themed charity walk tonight.

Around 100 women took part in a 10k ‘ladies’ moonlight walk’ held to raise money for Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale. Participants set off from the Cottingley Nuffield Health Club on the circular route, after a warm-up session in the club grounds.

Community fundraiser Linda Enderby said the retro theme was their way of celebrating the charity’s 25th anniversary.

She said: “We were formed in 1988, so we decided to have an 80s theme.”

Mrs Enderby said the annual event was alway popular, but this year there were lots of newcomers joining in.

She said: “People have all kinds of reasons for wanting to get involved. It could be personal – they could have a relative who has gone through a cancer journey, or they could be a survivor.”

The event was expected to raise around £5,000.
