A teenage sea cadet has been chosen as the Lord Mayor of Bradford’s leading cadet for the year.
Dixons Academy pupil Ummar Younis, 16, has been a Bradford Sea Cadet for five years, starting as a junior and working his way through the ranks to Leading Cadet with a distinction pass.
Ummar, along with his brother Abbas, were two of the 24 cadets chosen from West Yorkshire to be part of the 48-strong guard for the national Trafalgar Day Parade held in London last year.
He was appointed as leading cadet of the year by Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Khadim Hussain, during a ceremony where he gave 34 awards to 19 cadets.
