A team of MPs will take on school staff as a curtain-raiser to Bradford Park Avenue’s friendly clash against the Pakistan national team this Sunday.
Supporters arriving early for the charity game at the Horsfall Stadium will see the official MPs XI, skippered by Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe, play staff from Parkinson Lane Primary School in Halifax The warm-up match, as well as a proportion of gate receipts, will go towards the White Ribbon Campaign, an international charity fighting domestic violence against women.
The team of politicians will play school staff at noon, before the main match at 2pm.
Former international rugby star Ikram Butt, of Sporting Chance, who has organised the event, said: “We hope to encourage people from all sections of the communities to turn up in their numbers to witness what promises to be two fascinating contests.”
