A team of engineers from the Aire Valley will join more than 1,000 cyclists this weekend to tackle a 114-mile challenge climbing some of the toughest hills in the Yorkshire Dales.
One year before the Tour de France is set to visit Yorkshire, the White Rose Classic will take place on Sunday. The event is organised by Ilkley Cycling Club and supports Sue Ryder, a charity that provides care to those suffering life-changing illness.
Philip Wilson, Mike Roberts and Jason Hanson from Slipstream Design, a Shipley electronic engineering design company, have been training hard over the last few months and each hopes to complete the route within seven hours and raise more than £1,000 for Wheatfields, a Sue Ryder hospice in Leeds.
Managing director Mr Wilson said: “We’re determined to beat our personal targets and raise as much money as possible.”
