A thief struck at the home of a woman in her 90s, pushing her to the floor and snatching her purse.

The 93-year-old victim answered a knock to her back door in Anderton Street, Cross Hills, near Keighley, between 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday and a man asked for money When she went to get her purse, the man entered the house and grabbed her purse from her before pushing her to the floor and running off.

She has described him as aged 18 or 19, tall and thin.

Detective Sergeant Alan Browne, of Skipton CID, said: “The lady is very shaken, but has fortunately only suffered bruising to her arm and shoulder as a result of this incident.

“I urge anyone who has any information about this incident, or can help to identify the person responsible, to contact the police as soon as possible.”

The purse, which contained loose change, is described as blue with a metal clasp and a zip on the side.
