A Keighley man accused of sexually touching a 13-year-old schoolgirl during a game of hide and seek told a jury it did not happen.

The 31-year-old man denies three charges of sexual activity with a child.

The prosecution alleges the first two incidents happened at a commercial premises where he worked as a cleaner. It is claimed the defendant instigated a game of hide and seek which ended with them being in a small space and the girl sitting on his knee. He is then alleged to have kissed her and touched her over her clothing.

He is alleged to have later indecently touched the girl under her clothing.

The third incident is alleged to have taken place behind a store.

The complainant, who was the girlfriend of the defendant’s partner’s son, was aged 13 or 14 at the time.

Yesterday, the defendant, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the girl, insisted at Bradford Crown Court that he had not played hide and seek and the incidents did not happen.

He said: “She is just lying about all this. I am telling the truth.”

The trial continues.
