A visual history lesson on the 100 years of the Tour De France will be held in local libraries along the route of the 2014 Grand Depart of the legendary race.

Cycling enthusiast Frank O’Dwyer, 70, of Black Hill, hopes to psyche locals up for the Yorkshire legs of the race and will use his vast knowledge of it in a number of talks in the build-up to it.

He hopes to have exhibitions in libraries in Keighley, Ilkley and Addingham.

Mr O’Dwyer said: “We’ll be moving the stuff around libraries along the route, it’s going to be a very visual talk. It’s about raising awareness of the race.”

He hopes it would coincide with the 100-day arts festival panned for the build up to the Tour.

Anyone with information or stories about the district’s cycling history can get in touch via the library service or by calling Mr O’Dwyer on (01535) 600905.
