A packed weekend of family activities includes Oakworth and Denholme galas and Oxenhope Straw Race.

More than 170 two-person teams have already signed up to carry a bale of straw between five pubs during the Straw Race.

The event begins at noon on Sunday and teams can enter at strawrace.com until Friday at 5pm.

Keighley’s Festival of Transport will showcase historic cars, commercial vehicles and buses on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. Free buses will link the venues – Ingrow station on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and the car park of the Keighley Campus of Leeds City College.

There will also be hourly open-top heritage excursions.

Oakworth Gala will begin with a procession, setting off from Windsor Road at around 1pm on Saturday. Activities on the gala field off Victoria Road begin at 2pm and include stalls, entertainment and children's races.

Denholme Children's Gala is also on Saturday, with a parade starting from Hillcrest Road at 1pm. Attractions in Foster Park include the crowning of the gala king and queen, fire-eaters, a dog show and gladiator jousting.

The Manorlands Garden Trail will run this Saturday and Sunday with 15 gardens open to the public in Cullingworth, Harden and Wilsden. Tickets costing £4 for two people are available from the gardens, which will be signposted with balloons.

Medieval Day, a Keighley Festival event, will offer tug-of-war, a magician, storytelling and shield-making in Cliffe Castle Park on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
