Detectives are investigating two robberies in Allerton – including one where a man was threatened with a screwdriver.

Both attacks, which happened this week, took place close to the Dixons City Academy.

The first, which was on Tuesday between 10.45am and 11.05am, saw the male victim dragged into some bushes by his neck as he was walking through Ladyhill Park.

A man threatened him with the screwdriver before two accomplices searched his pockets and stole his mobile phone.

It is thought the suspects had been seen previously outside the academy.

They are described as Asian, aged 17 to 19 years and of medium build. One was 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a navy blue adidas tracksuit top and navy blue bottoms.

The second suspect is described as 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall with a short, trimmed beard. He spoke with a strong Bradford accent and was wearing a yellow zip-up jacket.

The third man was 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins and was wearing a grey hooded jumper.

The second robbery took place on nearby Allerton Lane between 2.15pm and 2.45pm on Wednesday.

A man who was walking with two friends through a lightly-wooded area fell behind and was approached from behind by three males.

One of them, who had his face covered, demanded the man’s mobile phone and forced him to the ground. His two accomplices held the victim down and he searched the victim’s pocket, stealing a phone.

The trio ran off when the victim’s friends turned up.

The first suspect is described as Asian, aged 18 or 19, 5ft 11ins tall, skinny, with dark brown eyes. He was wearing a black bandana across his nose and lower face as well as a royal blue top with a white adidas emblem on the breast.

The second man was Asian, 5ft 9ins tall, chubby, with black hair that was brushed forward. He also had a thin moustache and was wearing a plain beige jacket and beige chinos.

The third suspect was 6ft, stocky, in a grey jacket.

Police believe the robberies are linked. Any witnesses are asked to contact Airedale and North Bradford CID on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
