A planning application for a free-standing advertising sign on a triangular parcel of land near a busy Bradford road has been refused.
The plan would have seen the sign erected on land at 703 Wakefield Road, at its junction with Fenby Avenue, to the south of Bradford city centre.
The site is currently grassed over, containing a number of trees, and the sign subject to the application is currently in place.
In outlining reasons for refusal, a planning officer said the advertisement formed an “obtrusive element within the street scene” with its size, height and prominent siting.
The planning officer said: “Furthermore, the sign adds to the proliferation of advertisement material alongside this major transport corridor and gateway route into the city centre.”
