A revolutionary programme developed and implemented by West Yorkshire Probation Trust has been shortlisted for the prestigious Community Programme Awards.
Post-Sentence Assessment (PSA) was introduced by West Yorkshire Probation, working with the West Yorkshire Courts Service, last year, and is helping to deliver further reductions in reoffending and increased efficiencies.
With PSA, probation staff determine which interventions are required to rehabilitate an offender by carrying out a thorough post-sentence assessment.
It engages offenders in the sentencing process so that they understand what they have to do and how it will help them move away from offending. Research has shown the introduction of PSA has reduced breaches and increased the successful completion of sentences.
