The Queensbury History Society is holding an exhibition of its archives, celebrating 150 years of Queensbury being renamed from Queenshead.

The free exhibition will see films of Foxhill schoolchildren playing in Foxhill Park and Mountain titled ‘The Bank Robbers’ in 1957 and the Baptist Sunday School on an outing to Scarborough in 1958”, courtesy of The Yorkshire Film Archives.

The event is in Victoria Hall on Station Road in Queensbury from 10am to 5pm today, 12.30pm to 7pm tomorrow and 9am to 3pm on Saturday.

A celebration of Queensbury’s story, illustrated through music, dance and photography will takes place tonight at historic Black Dyke Mills.

The Black Dyke Band will be performing as guests, and there will also be performances from community groups tracing significant events since Queensbury was re-named in 1863.

The audience is invited to dress in period costume. Storytellers will share memories of bygone days, and there will be a storyteller for children.
