A Keighley school will this Saturday host an alternative to Cross Roads and Lees Gala.
Staff and parents at Lees Primary School decided to run a spring fair because there was not enough support from residents to organise a gala.
Jenny Mercer, the school's learning innovation and liaison co-ordinator, said the new event combined a traditional spring fair with a country show. There would be competition classes for all ages during the event, which runs from 1pm to 4pm.
Classes include bread and cakes, handmade crafts, the longest paper plane flight and bikes decorated on the theme Travels Abroad.
Rules are available from the school and entries must be submitted by tomorrow at 3.30pm. The entry fee is £1 for each item.
In and around the school will be stalls, a Punch and Judy show, hog roast and a bar.
Mrs Mercer said: "Unfortunately because of lack of support the gala isn't going ahead this year so the school is doing the spring fair instead.”
