Free health checks are on offer in an area of Bradford deemed to be a ‘hotspot’ for diabetes.

Bradford Council’s East Area Co-ordinator’s Office is hosting the free event tomorrow as part of National Diabetes Week. It will run from 1pm to 4pm at the Barkerend Pharmacy, on Barkerend Road.

The location was chosen because of its high proportion of South Asian residents, who are more likely than white European people to contract the condition.

Health experts will offer a range of help and advice for diabetics, as well as upgrades on old blood glucose monitors. Non-diabetics can find out more about how to avoid developing the condition and people can also get free diabetes and blood pressure checks.
