Shipley town centre has enjoyed a boost by gaining three new businesses.

Cafe No 5 in Westgate, the Finezja Polish Delicatessen in Kirkgate and The Kutting Room Barbers on Market Street are added to Hamilton’s Chair and Furniture Centre which opened in March.

Bradford Council Executive Member for Employment, Skills and Culture,Coun Susan Hinchcliffe said: “Despite the difficult economic conditions for high streets generally, Shipley holds on to its core of respected multiple stores complemented by an array of quality independent and speciality shops and markets.”

She said it shows Shipley is succeeding in the drive, supported by Bradford Council, to reduce vacancy rates. From a peak of 21.39 per cent in 2009, the figure is now down to 12.87 per cent which means Shipley is bucking the national trend.
