Champion cacti filled a room at Shipley Library for the Bradford branch of the British Cactus and Succulent Society’s show.
More than 300 plants were on display and were judged in ten classes. Society chairman Joan Thornton said it had been a splendid turn-out and made an appeal for more young people to get involved.
“Like all societies, we are all of us getting older and we want to pass on our enthusiasm and knowledge to the next generations,” Mrs Thornton said.
The group has given away over 500 plants to schools and young people’s groups in the last two years. “Now that horticulture has been introduced in the school curriculum we would be pleased to help schools in any way we can,” Mrs Thornton said.
The branch meets regularly at Shipley Library and can be contacted on (01535) 2274755.
