A Bingley woman motorcyclist who was killed as she overtook a tractor in North Yorkshire at the weekend was today named by police as Gail Richards.

The 42-year-old, who was riding a black Suzuki, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the B6479, near Horton-In-Ribblesdale, shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

An inquest into her death is expected to be opened and adjourned on Thursday.

Police investigating the tragedy successfully made a direct appeal for a vital witness to come forward.

Immediately before the crash two other motorcycles had overtaken the tractor.

The rider of the lead bike, who had not been riding with the other two, did not stop at the scene. The rider, who was on a black Suzuki and wearing black leathers, has now contacted police.

Anyone else with information about the crash should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
