The Friends of Ilkley Moor are working with schools to organise educational activities on the site.
Friends project officer Tracy Gray led sessions with pupils from Ashlands Primary School on Monday and Wednesday when they discussed how the water cycle affects the landscape.
She said: “After the discussion the pupils then sketched an aspect of the water cycle in the landscape near the Upper Tarn. Outdoor education is a great way to learn things as they apply in the real world.”
They were shown the various water bodies and habitats on the moor like bog, stream and tarns and their role in the water cycle.
All sessions are linked to the National Curriculum and delivered by the Friends free of charge. Any other interested schools should e-mail Tracy Gray at tracy@ilkleymoor.org.
