A replica of Charlotte Bronte’s wedding dress will be on display at a literary talk.

Red House Museum in Gomersal is hosting ‘Facts into Fiction’, a talk on the Luddites and how they were featured in contemporary literature, on Sunday, marking the novelist’s birthday.

Jim Summerscales will be giving a talk on the Luddites, revealing his ancestors’ role in the uprising. Imelda Marsden, of the Kirklees Bronte Group, will then give a talk on how they are portrayed in Charlotte Bronte’s novel Shirley.

The gown is being put on display to celebrate the forthcoming introduction of weddings at Red House.

The talk will be at 2pm in the barn, accessible via steps only. Entry costs £3, payable on the door, with all proceeds going to Red House Museum.
