A couple who were stranded in Spain after their baby was born prematurely are trying to raise £12,000 to bring her home.
Zowie Lyons, 25, and Sam Hilton, 20, from Horsforth, were on a short break when Ellizeah arrived 13 weeks early in January, weighing just 2lb 2oz.
Ellizeah has already undergone three operations and is now facing a fourth. She is expected to be in hospital in Alicante for at least another ten weeks.
The couple went on holiday without travel insurance and are trying to raise £12,000 to bring their daughter home in a fully-equipped plane which can fly a specialist team to Spain to meet them.
Zowie’s sister Cara Whitaker said the couple had wanted to bring Ellizeah home for her fourth operation, but this now looked unlikely. “She is doing well but the hospital have concerns that she is losing weight quite fast,” she said.
Anyone who wants to help can contact her grandmother Carol Lyons on 07401 404006.
