Yeadon Tarn has been declared safe to use again after being put off limits because of dangerous blue green algae.
Leeds City Council’s Parks and Countryside Depart-ment put up notices around the Tarn last September warning the public of the danger and advising them to keep away from the water.
The presence of blue-green algae species Anabaena was confirmed by the Environ-ment Agency.
The Tarn has remained closed over recent months, but the Council says it has had two clear water tests which confirmed the algae has now cleared and the water is fine to use again.
The tiny organisms are capable of producing neurotoxins, which can harm anyone coming into contact with them.
People can become exposed to them by swallowing contaminated water, or by absorbing them through their skin.
