School children have spent a week studying and caring for the environment.
Nursery children at Hipperholme Grammar Junior School began the week by making bird feeders for the school’s woodland area. They looked at a real birds’ nest and had a go at making their own nests from mud and sticks.
The children in reception visited a peace garden, before designing their own and finding out how they could attract different creatures and insects to it.
Children in other years planted sunflowers, built a ‘Minibeast Hotel’ and measured their carbon footprint.
The culmination of the week’s events was a fashion show, in which children made ‘green’ outfits from recycled materials.
