A mass kite flying event planned in Otley to raise awareness of global hunger has been postponed due to bad weather.
Children from eight schools were all set to unleash their kites as part of Oxfam's Flying the Kite for Food initiative at Wharfemeadows Park today.
But the schools involved, from Otley, Bramhope and Pool-in-Wharfedale, decided to delay the event after seeing weather forecasts predicting snow and icy temperatures.
Headteacher of Westgate Primary School, Helen Carpenter, said: "It's very annoying, but we couldn't risk trying to fly kites in the snow."
It is now planned to fly the kites on Friday, April 19.
