A ten-year-old Bradford girl who is tackling a mountain for charity is also selling her toys to help raise money.

Alisha Shehzadi is raising money for Orphans in Need by climbing Snowdon in Wales.

The youngster, who is a pupil at Hollingwood Primary School, Bradford, said: “Orphans in Need is a charity that helps orphans all over the world. At the moment the project they are working on is to build an orphan village in India.

“I am very excited about this challenge as at the moment I am the youngest trekker. I want to make a difference to people not as lucky as I am.”

Alisha’s mum Mariya Suleman, 30, of Jer Lane, will be doing the six-hour trek with her. She said: “I am really proud of her – and she has promised she will drag me up there if she needs to!”

Mrs Suleman added: “She is even selling her own toys to raise money. Her school and all the family are fully behind her.” Alisha’s Snowdon challenge is on April 6. To sponsor her, go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/ and search for Alisha Shehzadi.
