A train operating company says it is making progress in its efforts to run extra direct services between Bradford and London.

In May 2010, Grand Central started running the ‘West Riding’ service between Bradford Interchange and London Kings Cross, providing three trains a day in each direction.

The service has proved popular, especially with Bradford's business community, and there are moves to increase its frequency.

Richard McClean, managing director of Grand Central, said: “We are working closely with Network Rail to find ways to add extra services to our West Riding route – we were unsuccessful in this effort last year but better progress is now being made.
