Legal paperwork is being drawn up for the transfer of a green site to Baildon Parish Council.
The Hoyle Court and Kirklands Residents’ Association was formed to preserve a piece of land in the village which was under threat of development.
Bradford Council owns the site but it is to be transferred to Baildon Parish Council which will either lease it to the residents group or have it manage it.
Parish councillor Joe Ashton said the village council was pleased to pass a resolution to enter into a long-term lease agreement with Bradford Council at its meeting this week.
Secretary of the residents’ group Moira Orwin said: “We were delighted to get the support of the parish council and move closer to our goal of securing this open space for the community and the future.
"We are very grateful for all the efforts made by the community and councillors over the last 18 months.”
