A team of Cambridge University undergraduates is visiting five Bradford schools and colleges to encourage bright students to apply there.

The students of Queens’ College are hoping their Access Roadshow will give the inside story on living and studying at one of the UK’s top universities.

The students, who are from Yorkshire and Lancashire, will be giving talks and answering questions at five different Bradford schools and colleges from Wednesday [March 20] to Friday [March 22] next week.

They are Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College, Bradford Grammar School, Bradford College, Immanuel College and Bingley Grammar School.

All Bradford’s state secondary schools have also been invited to attend one of the sessions, aimed at those currently in year 11 and year 12.

The undergraduates will talk about their experience of study and life at Cambridge, and share their stories about college life, supervisions, clubs and societies, social life, friends, support, workload, applications and interviews.

Zoe Wilson, outgoing access officer for Queens’ College, said: “The roadshow is a really good opportunity to talk to school students in an environment in which they feel comfortable enough to ask questions.

“As current undergraduates we are in a great position to share our experience and help dispel some of the myths that surround Cambridge University."

Queens’ College is linked with Bradford under the university’s Area Links Scheme, and works with local schools and colleges to help demystify the applications process to Cambridge in order to encourage more applications from Bradford students.
