Baildon became Little Italy when WI group the Baildon Belles had pizza on the menu at their latest meeting.
Danny West, of Pizzatainment brought flour, toppings and portable ovens to teach the group how to make perfect pizza dough. And the night got off to a flying start as he taught the Belles how to toss, spin and throw pizza bases.
“Although the heat of the action caused the electrics at St John’s Church to fuse several times, almost everyone managed to cook and eat a pizza before the end of the evening,” said organiser Sara Mogford.
She formed Baildon Belles in 2009 when she realised there were few opportunities to meet like-minded women in a social setting.
The unconventional Women's Institute has almost a hundred members, ranging in age from early twenties to late sixties and meets monthly to socialise, network and take part in the fun programme of events.
Past activities have included burlesque, flavoured vodka-making and flamenco and the programme for 2013 includes circus skills, ninja-style self-defence and millinery.
Baildon Belles meets on the last Thursday of every month at 7.30pm at St John's Church Hall in Baildon and new members are always welcome.
